The Logan County Sheriff’s Office reports that Timothy Steinhelfer, 34, of Bellefontaine, was tailgating another vehicle on South Main Street near Domino’s Pizza around 9:20.
Steinhelfer then failed to use his turn signal while turning from South Main onto Spring Avenue.

Steinhelfer failed to stop and pulled into his driveway on East Patterson Avenue.
There was a strong odor of burnt marijuana in his vehicle.
Authorities noticed signs of impairment.

His eyes were glassy, his speech was slurred, and there was an odor of alcohol on his breath.
Kristin Wilson, 35, of Henderson, Nevada, was riding with him.
Deputies noticed an odor of alcohol on her breath.
She admitted to drinking.
Wilson said she and Steinhelfer “just left a Christmas party.”
Deputies recovered a baggie of suspected marijuana in the vehicle.

He was transported to the Logan County Jail.
Steinhelfer was charged with OVI, following too close, and possession of marijuana.
About 90 minutes later, Wilson went to the jail to pick up Steinhelfer.
Her eyes were bloodshot and there still was an odor of alcohol on her breath.
Wilson refused field sobriety tests and a blood alcohol test.
She was charged with OVI.
Steinhelfer and Wilson were released to a sober driver.
