New Laws In Nevada Address Everything From Marijuana To Neon – KNPR

Nearly 700 new laws started going on the books this month in Nevada, including some that stem from the state’s legalization of marijuana.

People with minor marijuana-related convictions can now ask the court to seal their records, reducing potential red flags in employment and other applications.

Other new laws will take effect on Oct. 1 and Jan. 1. Those include a measure that bans employers from disqualifying job candidates who test positive for marijuana use.

Other new laws include: restoring voting rights to up to 80,000 convicted felons, and abolishing the statute of limitations in sexual assault cases that include DNA evidence. Also, neon is now the official state element.
