Curaleaf Holdings on Monday unveiled a new “THC-infused beverage enhancer,” which the company touts as the cannabis industry’s “widest national product launch” to date.
The vertically integrated cannabis company said the drink enhancer, dubbed “Select Squeeze,” uses nanotechnology to turn cannabis oil into tiny water-soluble molecules, which lets THC compounds “dissolve evenly” in drinks and allows for quicker absorption into the bloodstream.
The company said effects can felt as soon as 15 to 30 minutes after consumption — “significantly faster than traditional edibles.” Officials say the product is launching in four flavors: “lemon-lime, watermelon, strawberry lemonade, and hint of sweet.”
Company officials said the Select Squeeze creation will be the first cannabis product with “mass availability,” with more than 94 million 21-and-older adults being able to access it.
“Curaleaf has been on the forefront of creating sophisticated cannabis experiences and introducing high-quality, consistent consumer products in a variety of form functions,” said Curaleaf President Joe Bayern, in a statement. “We’re incredibly excited to launch Select Squeeze across the country, as this new product not only addresses the rising market demand for edibles and beverages but also underscores the mainstream adoption of cannabis products across a diverse array of U.S. consumers.”
In Massachusetts, Select Squeeze is now available at Curaleaf dispensaries in Hanover, Oxford, Provincetown and Ware, the company said.
Select Squeeze is also available on Monday in 11 other states, including Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah and Vermont. On April 1, it will then be made available in Illinois, Nevada and Ohio, followed by California on April 8.
