Carson City supervisors to discuss opioid settlement funds – Nevada Appeal

Monday, July 12, 2021

The Carson City Board of Supervisors will meet Thursday at 8:30 a.m. in the Community Center Crowell Board Room. The agenda includes:
• An agreement between the state and the city that establishes the allocation of proceeds recovered from lawsuits against companies that produce and distribute opioids. Carson City would receive 2% of those proceeds.
• The appointment of three members to the Carson City Advisory Board to Manage Wildlife.
• A $45,000 increase to a three-year agreement allowing Carson City to use Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office forensic pathology services. These services benefit the sheriff’s office and coroner.
• The purchase of a caterpillar diesel generator and weight station software licensure and equipment for the city landfill.
• Authorization to purchase books and periodicals from BTAC Acquisition Corp. for the Carson City Public Library.
• Authorization to submit an application for $375,000 in grand funding from the Nevada Office of Criminal Justice Assistance so that the Sheriff’s Office can purchase technology.
• A five-year agreement between Carson City and Axon Enterprise to continue providing body-worn cameras and in-car cameras to the Sheriff’s Office.
• The appointment of a member to the Carson City Open Space Advisory Committee.
• A proposed ordinance effectively prohibiting any cannabis consumption lounges from becoming licensed businesses within the city and prohibiting the use of cannabis and cannabis products in public places.
• A resolution establishing the maximum number of residential building permit allocations for 2022.
• Direction to staff for the disposal of city property on 103 E Proctor St., and acquisition of a property along William St. This would allow the city to consolidate office space, and the cost would be partially (possibly even completely) offset by disposal of the property on Proctor St.
• Presentations
