A 49-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the area of Highway 50 E. and Brown Street Friday evening for suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, violation of a suspended sentence, and driving with revoked or suspended registration.
Eric John Sunderland was arrested after deputies were on patrol in the area and conducted a random registration check on a vehicle driving past, which returned with suspended registration.
Deputies made contact with the driver, identified as Sunderland, and deputies could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from his person, according to the report.
Sunderland admitted to having a “bag of marijuana” and a marijuana pipe in the vehicle. He admitted to smoking marijuana approximately 12 hours before the stop.
Deputies noted they did not observe any signs he was impaired.
Dispatch advised Sunderland was under supervision with a no drugs clause and wanted him arrested.
At the jail, deputies located two small plastic bags on his person which contained a white crystalline substance. He was additionally booked for possession of methamphetamine.

Ryan FitzGerald was arrested after a concerned citizen called reporting a man inside of an SUV who appeared to be using drugs.
Deputies met with the citizen who said they saw a man using drugs inside the vehicle, and they also saw a meth pipe. They pointed out the apartment the man went into.
Deputies knocked on the apartment door and spoke with the man, later identified as FitzGerald, who denied using drugs but matched the description the citizen gave. He had “extremely jittery” behavior, stiff
